Primo eighties elegance.

The 228 was Maserati’s answer to BMW and Mercedes Benz’s offering in the eighties. Luxury sports cars—like BMW’s 635CSi— were at the height of their appeal, and Maserati wanted a piece of the pie. Designed by Zagato, this two-door coupe has features that may remind you of its German competitors. Yet there are also details that make this design uniquely its own, especially the interior, which is extremely luxurious— featuring bur walnut, velvet, plush leather, an analog clock, climate control, power steering, and electric windows. Don’t let the cushy details put you to sleep though. Under the hood, Maserati splurged on a 2.8 L Twin Turbo (or Biturbo) V6, which put out an impressive 225 horsepower. However with all these features, Maserati was not able to gain traction the North American market, and imports stopped in 1990, meaning very few of these cars are on the road in the states.
This particular 228 is a three-owner example that was originally purchased in Seattle, WA from Grand Prix Motors. The last owner owned the car for 12 years. The car has been meticulously maintained throughout its lifetime, and comes with complete maintenance records since purchase. The exterior paint (named Swan White by Maserati) on the car is original. A stainless steel exhaust and Momo steering wheel have been added ( the original exhaust and steering wheel are included in the sale). This car is an absolute thrill to drive and almost certainly a one-of-a-kind ownership opportunity.
